Frequently Asked Questions
| Q: | Do you help find HUD/Section 8 housing?
|
| A: | No, unfortunately government funded programs operate independently from our services. If you are looking for HUD/Section 8 housing you can visit www.hud.gov or call 213-894-8000 for help. |
| Q: | Are all of the communities that offer residential care to where you refer licensed by the California Department of Social Services?
|
| A: | Yes, we confirm that all of the communities that offer residential care (assisted living communities and board and care communities) are licensed before we refer families to them. |
| Q: | What is the difference between Assisted Living Communities and Board and Care Communities?
|
| A: |
Board and cares are residential care facilities for the elderly and usually only care for up to six residents. If a family is looking for a smaller assisted living type of environment, a board and care is a nice option. Assisted living communities on the other hand offer a way for older adults to live independently in a larger residential atmosphere. While the types and sizes of the assisted living communities vary the average number of residents is usually around 80. |

What is SSI?

It is designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people, who have little or no income; and it provides cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing and shelter. |

| Q: |
Do Medical and Medicare cover assisted living communities?
|
| A: |
No, Medical and Medicare will only pay for a skilled nursing facility. However, if your elderly loved one qualifies for Medical he or she will also qualify for SSI. Assisted living communities ARE able to accept residents with SSI funding. |
